Description: Phoenix Children's Hospital is hiring Mgr, Periop Business Ops right now, this vacancy will be placed in Arizona. This position is responsible to the VP of Periop Services for budget development and management, productivity analysis, Periop Information Systems management, reporting of operational and fiscal performance, and contract oversight/compliance. Incumbent will develop and implement cost reduction strategies to meet PCH fiscal targets. Interaction with internal/external customer require! d, including but not limited to the PCH Departments of Purchasing, Pharmacy, Fiscal and Payroll, vendors and CHA members. Strong communication skills are required to work with physicians and nursing staff as well as contacts outside the Periop Department. Computer and data analysis skills are critical, to develop reports and share information with clinical staff that is relevant and facilitates data-based decision making and implementation of cost containment/reduction strategies. This position will supervise Periop Schedulers and work with staff coordinating periop purchasing and materials management. PCH Values

1. In conjunction with and under the supervision of the VP of Perioperative Services prepare, justify and administer operating and capital budgets for the Department of Perioperative Services and the related programmatic areas within institutional guidelines and in accordance with strategic plans. Monitor financial performance through key metric analysis. Conduct financial analyses of new or proposed programs through the development of pro forma. Assist in development business plans for short-term and long-term goals.
2. Coordinate monthly review of operating budget. Review and identify all expenditures within Perioperative services. Track purchase of all implants, supplies, etc. and match to clinical activity. Analyze and report all variances. Manage purchasing and expense tracing processes, utilizing internal controls and reconciliation practices. Adhere to Revenue Cycle and Busi! ness Office standards to maintain financial accountability. Develop, recommend and facilitate cost containment measures. Work with PCH surgeons and Perioperative administration to evaluate cost and reimbursement for proposed new programs and procedures. Aid in analysis of margin reports for Perioperative Services to identify areas for growth in alignment with PCH strategic initiatives. Partner with leadership to achieve financial and quality targets. Implements and communicates organizational mission, values, and divisional strategic plan. Maintain a consistent dialogue and united focus. Serve as a resource for providers.
3. Provide management of the Perioperative Service software as it relates to volume and fiscal issues. Collaborate with Information Systems to develop reports to accurately track volume, utilization, efficiency metrics, etc. Coordinate monthly reporting of pertinent statistics. Provide management of the database related to fiscal issues i.e. item file,! Doctor Preference Card files, OR statistics, procedure (CPT) files, ch! arge files, resource files, etc. Collaborate with Information Systems and Fiscal Department to provide data on cost per surgical case and facilitate cost-containment initiatives or increased standardization of supplies and equipment among multiple surgeons. Software utilized by Perioperative Services includes but is not limited to EPSI (budget), Stratajazz (Capital), AMPFM (registration and billing), Centricity (Periop clinical documentation, OR Scheduling, and Doctor's Preference Cards), and Midas (Occurrence Reporting).
4. Provide support to nursing management and staff in Perioperative Services related to supplies and equipment. Coordinate with Purchasing and materials management staff for the trial of new products. Collaborate with the VP of Perioperative Services, Director of Purchasing and Perioperative management and clinical staff regarding accessing contracts, negotiating contracts for new products, etc. Serve as a resource to nursing staff and surgeons in keep! ing Doctor's Preference Cards current, incorporating products changes, physician changes, etc. Provide leadership and support for efforts in product standardization. Monitor all contract purchases and work with Purchasing to secure contract pricing where needed.
5. Preparation of budget in conjunction with and under the supervision of the VP of Perioperative Services. Collaborate with perioperative clinical administration and surgeons and anesthesiologists to develop a budget that incorporates all projected needs. Delineate and quantify the budget impact of all programmatic changes or alteration in clinical practice. Develop and implement cost reduction strategies to meet PCH fiscal budget targets. Identify and prioritize all capital equipment needs.
6. Audit, monitor, and manage the charge capture and charge reconciliation processes for the Perioperative Services utilizing internal controls and reconciliation practices. Conduct charge audits and implement appropria! te remediation as needed.
7. Ensure that direct reports are appropr! iately selected and oriented and each employee has a current position description with performance standards. Conduct annual performance reviews. Monitor and track employee competency sheets. Address employee problems and concerns by maintaining pro-active and responsible employee relations in order to achieve a high rate of employee satisfaction, performance and retention. Monitor staff performance and provide direction, coaching, recognition, counseling, and disciplinary action as appropriate. Serve as a resource for employees.
8. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or related field or combination of education and experience. (Required)
Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or related field or combinatio of education and experience. (Preferred) Experience Requirements

Four or more years of related exp! erience in a health care setting (Required)
Experience in a Perioperative setting (Preferred)
One year experience in budget development and fiscal management (Required)
Knowledge of information systems and the ability to apply them to the health care environment, i.e. Excel (expert level required), Microsoft Word, Perioperative Services software, fiscal software, etc. (Required) Certification/License/Registry Requirements
