Post by Jobing - Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Surgical Services and OR Coordinator, directs and/or provides prof! essional perianesthesia nursing care for an assigned group of patients across the age continuum Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to direct or provide nursing care Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment Assists with the maintenance of surgical equipment and inventory Responsible for monitoring patient's physiological status in the immediate postoperative environment Communicates with surgeon and anesthesiologist continuously, and as needed, about patient conditions; receives direction for patient management Intercedes to maintain optimum homeostasis Provides supervision and guidance to other members of the Preop/ PACU staff and; and may be authorized, in the absence of the Director of Surgical Services, to make decisions affecting the Preop / PACU area Star Standards Demonstrates support of the Medical Center's mission, values and vision in all actions and interac! tions with employees, patients, medical staff, guests, and vis! itors Service Works to make a positive impression on patients and their guests, other employees, medical staff, and visitors Protects the privacy and dignity of our patients Shows concern by anticipating patient needs and adapting to their preferences Teamwork Works well with coâ€"workers & other employees as a team member Contributes to the team concept and maintains positive working relationships Recognizes the dignity of each person and shows respect for one another Works to resolve concerns and complaints promptly and effectively Accountability / Attitude Demonstrates kindness through words and actions Maintains a safe and clean hospital environment Maintains a clean, neat and professional appearance Embraces the change process as an effective tool for personal, professional and organizational growth Responsiveness Demonstrates responsiveness to the needs of our patients and their guests, other employees, medical staff, and visitors Incorporates rounding into daily prac! tice, as assigned Informs patients and their guests, other employees, medical staff, and visitors about waits, delays and other possible inconveniences Communicates in a caring and appropriate way Associates Degree in Nursing with a BSN preferred Able to work under pressure and in situations that demand patience, tact, stamina and endurance Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to the requirements of the daily surgical schedule. Ability to multiâ€"task and prioritize work in order to meet deadlines Knowledge of DNV, CMS, and Arizona health record requirements Effective communication skills, both verbal and written Knowledge of medical terminology Knowledge of anatomy and physiology Ability to effectively manage confrontational situations with tact and diplomacy Computer experience necessary CPR, ACLS, PALS Willingness to participate in goalâ€"setting and educational activities for own professional advancement Previous PACU, ambulatory care, critical ca! re or general nursing experience is preferred Is aware of professional ! nursing standards and performs in accordance with them Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
