Job Description


The Manager of Mortgage Training and Development provides team alignment and efficient learning delivery. Provides vision, direction, and inspiration for team assigned tasks. Sets tactical goals with direct reports and helps drive alignment in line with Ent strategic goals and initiatives. This position is responsible for managing the Mortgage Loan Training team, providing individual guidance and feedback through regular performance evaluations.

The position requires an individual with the ability to interpret and apply policy, make decisions regarding what the organization will do in relation to the scope of the department, and exercise discretion about significant matters.

The Training team is responsible for developing and deepening the technical competencies of those who work in all mortgage departments. The team also serves as a resource to these departments.

The position functions include:

Building and approving curriculum for Mortgage Lending.

Works with mortgage lending leadership to identify needs for training.

Leads training team and oversees the development and implementation of all training initiatives.

Oversees development and growth of the training team.

Responsible for training calendar and training assignments.

Works with the Project team to identify and create engaging training for new initiatives.

Partners with various departments ensuring training needs are fully met.

Collaborates with Department SMEs to test preliminary training modules for accuracy and effectiveness for new products or system enhancements.

Researches and conducts needs analysis; develops and implements plans based on these assessments.

Responsible for monitoring training effectiveness through elicited attendee and departmental feedback.

Essential Functions

  • Mortgage Lending Training Needs Assessment / Results Analysis: Work with department managers/supervisors/subject matter experts to determine skill gaps in existing workforce. Observe new and existing employees to determine opportunities for improved training. Research training methods / how employees learn and incorporate into training design. Find educational materials, primarily dealing with consumer financial education, for use in mortgage training. Review training results and monitor training program efficiency at teaching skills effectively. Evaluating learning progress at the individual and department levels. Oversee Entrance program Mortgage rotation and training. Serve as the team resource for mortgage lending staff.
  • Design / Develop / Implement Mortgage Lending Training: Develop, conduct, and drive high quality training materials with a strong understanding of the job requirements, while working with department managers and directors. Building and approving curriculum for Mortgage Lending. Work with Project leads on new projects that may require team trainings or updates to training material. Assist with, or provide the actual training in conjunction with various lending departments.
  • Managerial oversight of all direct reports to include: Staff development/Mentoring/coaching. Setting goals and objectives for staff. Augmenting staff knowledge of credit union operations. Skills augmentation as appropriate to support Ent initiatives. Hiring of new staff as appropriate. Annual performance appraisals. Additional administrative tasks related to management of staff (i. e. scheduling, time off requests, disciplinary action, etc. )
  • Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Ent policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications


Minimum Formal Qualifications for this Position

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Communication, Education, or related field
  • 7+ years' of training experience to include:
  • 1+ years' of supervisory or managerial experience.
  • 4+ years’ of experience in a financial institution.


Each year of relevant work experience may be exchanged for a year in a relevant degree program or vice versa. For example, a requirement of a bachelor's degree in accounting and 2+ years of account experience could be substituted for a high school diploma and 6 years of relevant accounting work experience or a master's degree in accounting and 0 years of work experience.


Technical or Specialized Knowledge/Skills:


  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead others through expertise, superior performance, solid communication, delegation, and time management.
  • Advanced communication skills including the ability to write, develop and deliver training curriculum.
  • Advanced analytical skills to project ebbs and flows within the mortgage industry as well as project activity to be proactive and meet member needs.
  • Possess in depth knowledge and understanding of: 1st mortgage products that include conventional, FHA, VA, and portfolio loans. Federal lending regulations. Mortgage Lending software systems. Microsoft Office product suite to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, PowerPoint, and Excel. Understand all positions related to Mortgage Lending. Investor guidelines and requirements. Ent mortgage lending policies and procedures.
  • Possess: Initiative to meet and/or exceed job standards and willingness to take on other tasks that aren't part of their regular job. Leadership skills. Strong presentation and group training skills. Knowledge of successful training techniques related to adult learning. Expertise in technical writing to include training manuals, memoranda, and proposals. Comfortable with public speaking. Strong problem-solving skills. Able to adapt communication style to interact with a diverse audience and ensure understanding. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple and diverse projects. Ability to hold information in strict confidence.
  • Ability to: Effectively and professionally communicate complex information to the mortgage lending team. Effectively and professionally interact with co-workers and management. Organize and prioritize workload and handle multiple tasks at a time. Work in a fast-paced environment. Take initiative. Be flexible. Work independently with minimal direction. Ability to give oral presentations to the department. Develop databases and complex reports. Take initiative for detailed and analytical processes.
  • Ability to hold information in strict confidence.

  • Any certifications related to curriculum development, education, adult learning, or related studies preferred

Additional Information


The pay range for this position is: $88,358.40 to $115,980.80 per year (S17)

This position is eligible for our corporate bonus program based on company performance.
