QUESTIONS
Under the guidance of the Assistant County Administrator (Internal Services), the Budget Director provides highly responsible supervisory budgeting and accounting work in coordinating and administering the County's Operating and capital improvement budget.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices related to budgeting.
- Knowledge of local governmental operations and practices.
- Knowledge of Florida Statutes as related to the budget adoption process.
- Knowledge of operating and capital expense budgets.
- Knowledge of Florida Statutes as they relate to the operation of County government.
- Knowledge of Federal, State and private grants.
- Knowledge of the practices utilized in governmental budgeting and cost reduction.
- Ability to formulate, implement, and maintain a large County budget.
- Ability to supervise a professional and technical staff.
- Knowledge of the principles of the Governor's Sterling Award process, Baldrige or other high performance organizational theories/systems.
- Ability to direct and carry out complex oral and written instructions.
- Possession of excellent customer service, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the County Commissioners, County employees, business partners, other governmental agencies, and the public, often in stressful situations.
- Ability to set a vision for the future.
- Ability to build a strong leadership team that is capable of implementing the vision and goals of the County.
- Ability analyze and solve administrative problems.
- Ability to prepare and analyze operating procedures and administrative reports.
- Ability to represent the County in public speaking events.
- Must be an effective change agent driven to inspire and implement change with excellent customer service, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain an enthusiastic, self-reliant and self-starting approach to meet job responsibilities and accountability.
- Ability to anticipate work to be done and initiates proper and acceptable direction for completion of work with a minimum of supervision and instruction.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. One or more of the following certifications is preferred: Florida Sterling Examiner, Baldrige Examiner, or Kaizen.
