Job Description
OceanaGold are seeking a suitably qualified and reliable Emergency Response Officer to assist in improving the safety culture and performance across OGPI and its Contractors by building, monitoring, and supporting Safety Management System, Health Programs, and Emergency Preparedness and Responses to protect our workmates from injury and harm. The role will report to the Supervisor – Emergency Response.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Participate in developing and implementing Emergency Response and Management Plans, Procedures, and Programs
- Ensure the availability of adequate resources and maintenance of all ERT equipment for the effective response of the ERT
- Assist in preparing and collaborating with OHS sections on the timely preparation and submission of the Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly reports needed by MGB and other concerned agencies
- Deliver emergency preparedness and response objectives and targets safely and efficiently onsite and offsite
- Assist other departments and stakeholders with the supervision of the ERT Superintendent, Captain, or Deputy Captain in assessing and addressing possible safety and environmental hazards that may lead to an emergency or disaster
- Participate in ensuring compliance with the emergency response requirements of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Environmental Management System, Occupational Health and Safety Management System and Energy Management System ISO 50001
Qualifications
- Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Corp. Values and the OceanaGold Way
- High school graduate
- At least 3 years of experience in Emergency Medical Services or Mine Rescue
- With forty (40) Hours of Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) Training is an advantage
- Any underground Mine Rescue and Firefighting certifications are highly regarded
- With updated Basic Life Support (BLS) and Standard First Aid Training certification
- With basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Word Excel, PowerPoint, and other Software applications
- With a valid Professional Driver’s License
- Proficient in both oral and written communications
- Physically and mentally fit to undergo rigid physical training
