Under the direct supervision of the Front Office Manager this position enables the Surgery Scheduler to support the delivery of innovative and comprehensive orthopedic care.
Type: Temporary
Location: Central Phoenix
Hours: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; M-F
Pay: $16 - $17 (DOE)
Duration: 6 â€" 8 weeks
DUTIES:
Scheduling surgeries for his or her assigned physicians in a timely and complete manner.
Courteously greet patients, visitors and other clients, determine their! needs and direct them to the appropriate person, office, or t! reatment area.
Verify insurance eligibility for the patient.
Obtain authorization for the surgery from the insurance company.
Ensure that the outpatient or inpatient facility is contracted with the patients insurance.
Schedule the patients surgery at the designated facility.
Order appropriate equipment and tissue for the surgery and appropriate post op equipment as needed. Coordinate appropriate anesthesiologist and surgical assistant.
Fax information to the hospital or surgery center as needed.
Collect applicable co-insurance and deductible amounts from patient 1 week prior to surgery.
Schedule pre-op appointment when required and first pre-op appointment.
If blood donation is required, fax request to united blood services and make sure patient is aware of appointments.
Arrange transport if required for patient for surgery.
Send letter to patient with pre-op instructions, map of facility and pre-surgery & post-op appointments.
Cancel and reschedule patients when needed.
Arrange for observation if required by hospital for the physician to start doing cases at a certain hospital.
This candidate must have a minimum of two (2) years experience in Scheduling Surgery; preferably in orthopedics.
Must possess ability to effectively communicate using verbal and written skills.
Must be organized, able to problem solve and manage the details of this position.
Must be able to work collaboratively with co-workers, managers and providers to identify breakdowns in processes, determine the root cause and bring solutions forward for discussion and implementation.
Must possess the ability to speak, write, see and hear to perform the essentials of the job.
Must possess proficient computer and keyboard skills.
Must be able to perform intermittent physical activity i! ncluding bending, reaching, and prolonged periods of sitting.
Must ! be able to lift 25 lbs.
