Sierra Nevada Job Corps offers young adults vocational training in a variety of trades. Located 12 miles north of Reno, Nevada, the sprawling 40-acre campus provides outstanding recreational opportunities, well-equipped learning labs and individualized, self-paced vocational and academic programs.
Sierra Nevada Job Corps is currently looking for a Career Readiness Specialist.
Position Summary: Reports to the manager, career counseling. Responsible for planning, coordinating, developing and implementing a professional individuals and group counseling program for assigned students, in compliance with government and management directives.
Essential Functions:
- Refer students to other programs areas such as transfers, extension or advanced programs, college placement, etc.
- Maintain contact with student's family; utilize community resources as needed.
- Assist in the evaluation of center services for students and recommend modifications for improvement.

- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
- Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other customers.
- Participate in student employability programs and activities.
- Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy.
- Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
- Maintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree or four year's experience working with youth required. Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
