Patient Care Technician- L & D

Location: Tucson Arizona

Description: Tucson Medical Center is at the momment seeking for Patient Care Technician- L & D right now, this career will be placed in Arizona. We are a 28 bed high risk antepartum and intrapartum unit including 14 Labor & Delivery room beds, 10 antepartum outpatient beds, and 4 preop/postop beds. We care for triage patients; ante-partum patients; intrapartum, and preop and postop patients. We are a staff comprised of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, OB Techs, Patient Care Techs, Unit Associates, MA's and ORAs. We have a wonderful team of providers and support staff on our unit including 24 hour perinatologists, neonatologists, and anesthesiologists. Our goal is to g! ive safe and compassionate care. We strive to make sure our pa! tients and families have a positive experience in the birth of their child.
The Patient Care Technician is responsible for direct patient care services under the supervision of an RN or Case Manager. Provides personal care and assists with the implementation of selected portions of a care plan under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse.
BSN students - eligible the summer before their last two or three semesters in nursing school, depending on the graduation date.
ADN students - eligible the 3rd semester or between 3rd and 4th semester depending on the program. Performs expanded nursing procedures specified in skills list.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
EXPERIENCE : Six (6) months of patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting; or no experience if completed one semester of clinicals ! in an accredited A.D.N. nursing program or completed two semesters of clinicals in an accredited BSN nursing program.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Must hold and maintain a PCT certification, unless if completed one semester of clinicals in an accredited A.D.N. nursing program or completed two semesters of clinicals in an accredited BSN nursing program. If the nursing program is not completed, then must get PCT certification. For Hospice & Pediatrics areas, valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card within 6 months of hire.
