KEY REQUIREMENTS

U.S. Citizenship
Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required.
Must pass pre-employment examination.
Designated and/or Random Drug Testing re! quired.
Background and/or Security Investigation required.

! English Language Proficiency required. DUTIES:
Prepares Operating Rooms (OR) for procedures.
Stocks, supplies and orders anesthesia equipment and supplies as needed.
Assists anesthesiologists with patients in OR rooms as well as the Pain Clinic.
Assists Post Operative Care Unit (PACU) nurses in preparing for cases.
Knowledge of sterile technique, infection control procedures and universal precautions.
Must be self-directed, motivated, independent and able to initiate actions.
Maintains flexibility in schedule and ability to change priorities according to patient and department demands.
Ability to maintain self-control in stressful situations.
Must function in a team setting and support care providers.
Must have the ability to conduct educational sessions regarding anesthesia equipment.
Recognizes emergency situations and demonstrates effective action in emergencies.

Tour of Duty: 12:00PM to 8:00PM.

! Relocation expenses will not be reimbursed. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Must be a citizen of the United States.

Must be a graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Must have a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia . In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.

Must be proficient in spoken and written English.

Must be a g! raduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the ! appropriate State agency and/or [accredited by] the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)] at the time the program was completed by the applicant. Verification can be obtained from the State approving agency [or] the National League for Nursing [Accrediting Commission], 61 Broadway, 33rd Floor, New York, NY 10006. [Additional information may also be obtained from the NLNAC Website. Exceptions include:

(1) Health care education in the military service or training in the military service which is accepted by the licensing body in the jurisdiction in which the individual is licensed as qualifying for full LPN/LVN licensure will be accepted as meeting the education requirements for VHA employment.
(2) Individuals granted a license by a jurisdiction that does not require graduation from an approved school. See paragraph 4, section C.]
